The United States is embroiled in controversy surrounding the LGBTQ+ community. Some express hatred toward the gay community, especially transexual persons, which is undeserved and unprecedented.

This article will cover some of the many issues surrounding the hatred that seems to have spread and is doing more emotional and mental harm than COVID-19.

Laws Against the LGBTQ+ Community

The LGBTQ+ community faces persecution and discrimination on a scale never before seen in the United States. It has become so bad that the Human Rights Campaign declared a national emergency for the gay community because of the passage of over 75 anti-LGBTQ+ bills in the US.

Although the hatred is among several states, Texas and Florida are the worst offenders, having passed a law that dehumanizes and harms the gay and Drag Queen communities.

Here are just a few of the laws enacted in Texas and Florida.

· Bans on drag performances.

· Changes in trans bathroom usage.

· Bans on trans athletes in school sports.

· Banning books written by or about LBGTQ+ persons or families.
